Heavy Metal Detoxification & Diatomaceous Earth

In our daily lives, we are chronically exposed to heavy metals such as lead, mercury, aluminum, and arsenic, whether it be from the air we breathe or the food we eat. The problem is, heavy metals tend to build up in our systems, with our bodies unable to process and remove them. Heavy metals can cause damage to our central nervous system and bodily organs. They may lead to physical, muscular, and neurological degenerative processes such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. Heavy metal toxicity can produce symptoms such as chronic fatigue, autoimmune disease, neurological disorders, brain fog, depression, anxiety, dementia, and insomnia.

How do you detox from heavy metals?

There are various ways to heavy metal detox, but in this article, we will specifically focus on diatomaceous earth. In addition, diet is extremely important to facilitate and ease the process. In general, you want to focus on consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, organic whenever possible in order to limit exposure to chemicals and pesticides. Foods that contain chlorophyll, such as cilantro, chlorella, and matcha, will also assist in detoxifying heavy metals. Also, make sure to drink natural fluids every day, such as water and fresh vegetable juices, which help flush away the toxins. Garlic and onion contain sulfur which assist the liver in detoxifying lead and arsenic. In addition to paying attention to what you should eat, also be mindful of what you should not eat. It is best to stay away or limit yourself from allergy causing foods such as dairy, sugar, and gluten. It is also advisable to stay away from farmed fish as it heavily contains heavy metals and toxins.

What is diatomaceous earth?

Diatomaceous earth (DE) is made from the skeletons of fossilized diatoms, a hard shelled algae. When it is ground into a powder, it can be used to assimilate a heavy metal and parasitic detox.

Why use diatomaceous earth?

DE detoxes parasites, which can cause food intolerance, nausea, bowel discomfort and pain, itching, asthma, sinus infections, Morgellons disease (a skin condition), and more allergy-related symptoms and reactions. In terms of heavy metals, DE can detox mercury, cadmium, lead, and other heavy metals. It helps to removes the poisonous effects from chemtrails and radiation, and it may alleviate the effects of genetically modified organisms in our food supply. DE also has strong antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antiviral properties, so it can assist and fortify our natural immune systems. Other benefits of DE include increased energy and alertness, reduced blood pressure, weight loss, strengthened hair, skin, and nails, and improved collagen production, which improves skin tone and strengthens tendons and joints.

How do you use diatomaceous earth for detoxification?

If you are planning on using diatomaceous earth for heavy metal and parasitic detoxification, first make sure you purchase a food grade quality. Depending on the source, you will find a variety of recommendations for how to use diatomaceous earth. A standard rule of thumb is: ten days on, ten days off. You can continue this cycle for ninety days, but some report using DE for years on end. When first using DE, mix up to half a teaspoon in four ounces of water. Drink immediately and on an empty stomach, for example, first thing in the morning. Continue to drink water throughout the day, as DE can cause dehydration. Each day, you can up the quantity of DE used in water until you reach two heaping tablespoons. DE does not have a strong flavor or consistency, but if you cannot stomach it, you can try adding it to a smoothie or even a bowl of oatmeal. Although, I believe using it with a simple glass of water would provide the best results and allow your body to laser focus on DE and detoxification. I also experimented with adding essential oils, such as lemon or orange, to my glass of diatomaceous earth water to provide a slight aroma and additional detoxifying benefits.

What to expect?

If you have gone ahead and decided to use diatomaceous earth in order to detox from heavy metals and parasites, you may initially feel some detox symptoms. You may have headaches, weakness, soreness, or flu-like symptoms, but these should dissipate after a few days. If they do not, try lowering your dosage of DE and continue. These symptoms essentially let you know the detox is working; your body is bringing to surface the toxins so that they may be flushed away and rid from your system.
